Department of Applied Mathematics as a predecessor of the Department of Quantitative Methods was founded in 1993. In 1999, the department was renamed to the Department of Business Informatics and Mathematics. During this period the department ensured teaching subjects from the field of informatics, mathematics and statistics. Since 2002, the Department began to enlarge and cover other subjects and fields of interest. In 2013, the name of the department was changed to current one, the Department of Quantitative Methods. Since 2005 has the department active doctoral students who are involved in teaching. Since then, the number of PhD students in the department increased significantly. The department is also engaged in projects from different fields supported by national or European bodies, or demand driven projects from business practice. In its history, the department also contributed to many major faculty conferences and events.
Department works or has worked in the past with various departments of other colleges and universities, mostly from Kosice, from which we mention:

Department of Quantitative Methods focuses on the area of applying mathematical and statistical methods into the economic practice. Employees and students of the department are working on research in areas of Quality Improvement Methodology – Six Sigma, Real Option Theory, Sustainable Development, Graph Theory, Risk Management – Safety Improvement and in Performance Measurement of companies and educational systems.
Our staff provides consultation to other research institutes and commercial partners in the field of quality improvement, training and learning methodologies in quality improvement, research and market surveys and employee satisfaction.
