It also presents an overview of the concepts, purposes, features, and risks of international trade. A grasp of the features and risks of international trade facilitates a better understanding of the numerous methods of payment in international trade and the relevant trade finance schemes, which is essential to success in international trade transactions.
Brief module description
The course focuses on key concepts, theoretical background and their application in the analysis of the global economy and the determinants of its development in the past decade. The topics presented include theoretical background for understanding international business and trade, an analysis of the deepening integration of economies and the prospects of new emerging countries in the world economy. The course focuses on the analysis of the effects of globalization, theories explaining the development of international trade in the past and present, foreign trade policy and its instruments, the growing importance of transnational corporations, changes in the structure of investment flows and their impact on individual countries, the expansion of the global production system and outsourcing strategies developed markets as well as in developing countries, forms and impacts of different economic integration groups in the world, overview of the European Union's past and present position in terms of its international competitiveness, specific business characteristics in developing countries, potential for future economic growth in less developed regions financial markets and the role of international institutions focused on their regulation, economic development and prospects of the Slovak Republic as well as an overview of current problems in the global economy.
