The primary educational objective of the module is to provide students the basics of macroeconomics and international economic relations at the level of the latest knowledge of world economic science.

Brief course description:

The module is focused on key concepts and theoretical knowledge and its application to the analysis of the global economy and the determinants of its development in the past decade. Presented topics include the theoretical basis for understanding the international business and trade, an analysis of the deepening integration of the economies and prospects of new rapidly developing countries in the global economy. The subject is aimed at analyzing the impact of globalization, theories explaining the development of international trade in the past and the present, external trade policy and its instruments, the growing importance of transnational corporations, changes in the structure of investment flows and their impact on the country, expansion of the global system of production and outsourcing strategies of corporations to mature markets and developing countries, forms and impact of various economic integration groups in the world, an overview of past and current status of the European Union in terms of its international competitiveness, the specific characteristics of entrepreneurship in developing countries, the potential for future economic growth in less developed regions, international financial markets and the role of international institutions aimed at their regulation, economic development and prospects of the Slovak Republic as well as an overview of current problems in the global economy.​
