Familiarization of students with the process of strategy formulation, including knowledge and practical application of basic and advanced tools of strategic analysis. Acquisition of knowledge about the choice and implementation of the strategy at different levels of management in selected situations

  • Definitions of strategy. Intentional and emergent strategies. Strategy and tactics. Components of the strategic management process.
  • Historical view of strategy. Current views on the process of strategy creation. Strategic thinking.
  • Formulation of the vision, mission and goals of the company.
  • Analysis of macro environment, industry environment, competitive analysis.
  • System of strategic observation and forecasting of the development of the company's environment.
  • Analysis of internal resources and capabilities of the company, strategic synthesis.
  • Methods of creating business strategies.
  • Strategies at the level of business units - contingent and generic approach.
  • Portfolio methods.
  • Strategies at the corporate level - growth, stabilization, revitalization, mitigation strategies.
  • Strategies at the functional level. Strategies in selected situations.
  • Selected problems of strategy implementation.
  • Preferred strategies of Slovak companies.
