Economic Aspects of Environmental Management

The primary educational objective is to provide students with knowledge of the technical and economic aspects of management of the environmental aspects, impacts and risks of activities and products businesses. Listeners will be familiar with progressive tools of implementation of international, European and Slovak environmental policy, with particular regard to the creation and protection of the environment at the manufacturing and non-manufacturing organizations.
Brief module description:
- Environmentalism as a new megatrend, respectively. strategy for the development of production and consumption processes; Theoretical basis environmental policy-making, basic types and objectives of the state environmental policy.
- Voluntary agreements, environmental policy at international level, environmental action programs of EU environmental policy at regional and local level; environmental policy instruments - in general.
- Purpose of and reasons for the introduction of management systems for environmental protection, voluntary systems, forms and tools of environmental policy.
- Environmental management system according to ISO 14001: 2005. An initial overview of the state of environmental protection (Initial environmental review) as a starting point for building the EMS environment protection strategy, preparation of an environmental action plan, defining responsibilities for environmental protection.
- The specification for environmental protection, training, and internal information, external communication, audit the environmental management system.
- Environmental management system and audit. EMAS, the EMAS legislation in Slovakia. Reason for Revision of EMAS, Current Regulation 1221/2009 EPAR - "ultimate" form of the environmental management system and audit.
- The initial environmental review, the environmental statement and its requirements.
- Economic aspects of the construction and operation of environmental management systems - Requirements for building EMS, benefits from the use of, evaluation of economic efficiency of investment.
