On April 30, 2026, a scientific seminar for PhD students entitled “Labour Market and Employment in the Context of Current Socio-Economic Changes” was held at the Faculty of Business Economics, University of Economics in Bratislava, with seat in Košice.

The event was a partial output of the project Employment of University Graduates in the Košice Self-Governing Region, implemented within the Early Stage Grants EUBA scheme. The seminar provided a platform for presenting research results of PhD students, exchanging professional experience, and discussing current challenges shaping the labour market.

The presented contributions addressed several topical issues, including graduate employability, skill mismatch between graduates and labour market requirements, in-work poverty, structural changes in employment, the shadow economy, the impact of artificial intelligence, and changing consumer behaviour. These topics highlighted the importance of linking academic research with practice and the need to seek solutions that contribute to a better understanding of labour market developments.

The seminar took place in a constructive and professional atmosphere. PhD students had the opportunity to present their research, engage in discussions, and receive valuable feedback supporting the further direction of their work. The event also demonstrated that young researchers bring fresh perspectives to current socio-economic issues.

The seminar confirmed the importance of supporting PhD students and early-career researchers in the development of the faculty’s research activities. At the same time, it emphasized the relevance and societal importance of labour market and employment issues in the context of ongoing economic changes.
