Our PHF students had a unique opportunity to join the Vranovčan Folklore Ensemble on an international tour, during which they represented Slovak culture and traditions in the United States.
The first part of the tour took them to New York City. In addition to visiting iconic landmarks such as the Empire State Building, Central Park, the Brooklyn Bridge, and the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, they also enjoyed exceptional cultural experiences. Dressed in traditional Slovak folk costumes, they attended Holy Mass at St. John Nepomucene Church in Manhattan, brought Times Square to life with their dancing, and enjoyed performances on Broadway and at Lincoln Center.
The next stop was Washington, D.C., where Vranovčan performed at the Slovak Embassy for diplomats, ambassadors, representatives of the United States, and other distinguished guests.
The tour concluded with the Slovak Heritage Festival in New Jersey. Over the course of two days, the students and members of Vranovčan shared Slovak folklore, music, dance, and traditions with our Slovak compatriots living in the United States. At the same time, they had the opportunity to hear their stories and, through their performances, bring them a little piece of home.
