Študentská vedecká a odborná činnosť (ŠVOČ)

In the academic year 2025/2026, the Faculty will host the jubilee 30th edition of the Student Scientific and Professional Activity (ŠVOČ), which will take place during April – May 2026.

ŠVOČ provides students with the opportunity to prepare scientific and professional papers on topics related to their field of study at our faculty. Students may participate in the competition either with their own topic or by selecting from the list of topics proposed by members of the faculty departments.

Participation in ŠVOČ offers students valuable experience, a deeper academic insight into the researched issue, and the opportunity to develop their analytical, research, and presentation skills. The knowledge and competencies acquired through this activity can be effectively applied when writing and defending bachelor’s or master’s theses, as well as in further academic or professional development.

In addition, successful participants gain an advantage in the selection process for international study mobility programmes, such as Erasmus+.

The best papers at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels are nominated for the University-wide round of ŠVOČ, where the top three papers at each level of study are – in accordance with the University’s internal regulations – financially rewarded.

Proposal of ŠVOČ topics (in the Slovak language)

Important Deadlines for the 30th Edition of ŠVOČ:

• Date of the Faculty Round: April – May 2026 (exact date to be specified)
• Submission of the paper (electronic version): no later than two weeks before the faculty round
• Submission of the application (electronically): no later than three weeks before the faculty round
• Submission of the reviews (by the supervisor and the opponent) and at least one printed version of the paper: no later than one week before the faculty round

All documents (application form, electronic version of the paper, reviews, and printed copy) must be submitted to the Department for Science and Doctoral Studies.
